Historical Perspectives on the castle of Carpignano Sesia
The castle is the oldest historic core of the country. The buildings was composed in large part in the XIV-XVI centuries. It was formerly surrounded by crenellated walls (rebuilt in the first half of '400) and towers: nowadays only a portion of the wall remains overlooking Piazza Marconi (building housing the municipal library) and the base of a tower (corner Via dell'adicente the Fossa). Inside the castle, along the first lane to the right of the street, you reach the small enclosed courtyard corresponding to the old dungeon, the fortified residence of the local lords (in the eleventh century accounts Pombia in the twelfth accounts Biandrate) . Many buildings, currently used in stores and warehouses, retain the original structure with ground floor used as a cellar door with arched top and flat as housing and it was often added a second floor used as barn.

The church of St Peter
At Vicolo Carducci, inside the castle, we can see the three apses of the Romanesque church of San Pietro, built shortly after the 1000 as a chapel, and then extended between the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Around 1140 was donated with its properties to the Benedictine priory of Cluniac Castelletto Cervo (VC) and it was decorated with beautiful fresco cycle of the apse major, who boasts unique characters of the original paintings of the time. The themes were (Christ Enthroned, St. Peter and the personification of the Church, the Apostles) refer to the conception of the role of Cluniac Church and its relations with the secular powers. In the bottom of the apse we can see the figure in the folklore of a "homo silvaticus.

The press weight
A building on the right side of the central street of the castle is a remarkable example of Latin torch system, or press for weight, dates back to 1575 and among the oldest in Piemonte. The complex mechanism, originally intended to strip the grapes for wine but also nuts for oil, was propelled by the weight of the trunk of a tree 13 meters in length yet fully preserved.
